AI Engine – MCP Server & AI Chatbot for WordPress, with Claude, ChatGPT & Gemini: Limited media-file deletion
The AI Engine – The Chatbot, AI Framework & MCP for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to limited media file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the upload_file function in all versions up to, and including, 3.8.4 This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary media files on the server. This requires the administrator to have enabled the Public API option, and exploitation depends on the hourly cleanup_files task running after the malicious upload. The structured affected range is <= 3.8.4.

Update, patch or deactivate.
Update to a supported release containing the confirmed fix: 3.8.5. Exclude internal upload metadata from user control and constrain cleanup to the plugin’s own expired upload files. Official author notes: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ai-engine/#developers.
A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.
Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.
