MEDIUM CVE-2026-15648 Deferred

Brands for WooCommerce width shortcode attribute permits stored XSS

Brands for WooCommerce through 3.8.8 lets a Contributor store an attacker-controlled width attribute in the brands_product_thumbnail shortcode. brbrand_deprecated_shortcodes_divi_addon::description_post() concatenates that value into an image or span style attribute without validating the CSS size or escaping the completed attribute, allowing injected markup or script to execute when the post is rendered.

Weakness
CWE-79 — Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

This CVE was published Jul 24, 2026 and is one of 6 known issues for this plugin.

Update, patch or deactivate.

Update Brands for WooCommerce to 3.8.8.1 or later. The fixed release parses width and height into allowed CSS sizes, allowlists float positions and applies safecss_filter_attr(), esc_attr(), esc_url() and esc_html() at the output sinks. Remove unexpected width values from existing brands_product_thumbnail shortcodes.

A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.

Technical description

The Brands for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'width' Shortcode Attribute in all versions up to, and including, 3.8.8 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
