Download Monitor: Script execution through a crafted download link
The Download Monitor WordPress plugin before 5.3.4 does not properly validate that a clicked link belongs to the site before fetching it client-side and rendering part of the response in the page, which allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of any user who is tricked into clicking a crafted link. Other endpoint, parameter, role or implementation details not named in this export are not established by this record. Affected versions: before 5.3.4.

Update, patch or deactivate.
The authoritative export identifies 5.3.4 as fixed. Update to the applicable fixed release or a later supported release. Validate untrusted input and apply context-appropriate output escaping at the affected rendering point; enforce permissions independently of nonces.
A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.
Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.
