MEDIUM CVE-2026-118500 Received

Cool FormKit Lite – Advanced Form Builder for Elementor: Stored cross-site scripting

The Cool FormKit Lite – Advanced Form Builder for Elementor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting via the '_elementor_data.form_fields[].custom_id' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 2.7.9 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The esc_html() call applied at server emission is bypassed because the HTML fragment-serialization algorithm restores an encoded double-quote to a raw double-quote inside text nodes when jQuery .html() extracts the template, allowing the attacker-controlled custom_id to break out of an HTML attribute context within the plugin's own frontend script. The vector marks UI:N, but the narrative’s victim viewing or interaction requirement still applies. The structured affected range is <= 2.7.9.

CWE-79 — Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

This CVE was published Oct 30, 2026 and is one of 2 known issues for this plugin.

Update, patch or deactivate.

Official author notes reviewed on 2026-10-30 through version 2.7.10 did not establish an exact fixed release for this CVE. Conditional-field DOM-rendering improvement does not identify custom_id escaping. This archive’s uncertainty does not establish that the current release remains vulnerable. Validate input and escape values for their final HTML, attribute or JavaScript context; review affected stored content where applicable. No confirmed safe version is listed. Consider a vendor-supported patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality while you assess the risk.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.
