MEDIUM CVE-2026-5924 Deferred

Getwid evaluates Google Maps customStyle as JavaScript

A Contributor or higher can store attacker-controlled content in the Google Maps block's customStyle attribute. The frontend mapStyles() function evaluates that value with eval(), causing stored script to run in the site's origin when a user views the affected page. The narrative covers releases through 2.1.3; the structured version field names only 2.1.3. Affected versions: <= 2.1.3 according to the narrative (the structured field names 2.1.3). Confirmed fixed release: 2.2.0.

Weakness
CWE-79 — Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

This CVE was published Sep 23, 2026 and is one of 11 known issues for this plugin.

Update, patch or deactivate.

Update to 2.2.0 or later, preferably the current supported release. Remove eval() from style parsing and accept only schema-validated JSON style data. Review stored Google Maps blocks for malicious customStyle values. The official changelog matches this vulnerability in 2.2.0. Official changelog: https://wordpress.org/plugins/getwid/#developers

A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.

Technical description

The Getwid – Gutenberg Blocks plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the Google Maps block's 'customStyle' attribute in all versions up to, and including, 2.1.3. This is due to the use of eval() on user-controlled block content in the frontend JavaScript mapStyles() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
