GiveWP: Donation-template setting permits stored cross-site scripting

GiveWP insufficiently sanitizes and escapes a donation-form template setting before inserting it into an HTML attribute. A user with a custom GiveWP form-editing role can store attacker-controlled script that executes when a visitor or administrator opens the affected donation form. The setting name, save endpoint and rendering function are not disclosed in the export. Published affected versions: < 4.19.0.1.

This CVE was published Oct 25, 2026 and is one of 69 known issues for this plugin.

Update, patch or deactivate.

Update GiveWP to 4.19.0.1 or later. Validate the template setting and apply attribute-context escaping at rendering time. Restrict untrusted form editing and remove injected settings; review privileged sessions if an administrator opened an affected form.

A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.

Technical description

The GiveWP WordPress plugin before 4.19.0.1 does not properly sanitise and escape one of its donation form template settings before outputting it inside an HTML attribute, allowing users with a custom form-editing GiveWP WordPress plugin before 4.19.0.1 role to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute in the browser of any visitor or administrator who opens the affected donation form.
