MEDIUM CVE-2026-84224 Deferred

Kirki: Editor-level requests to internal services

An Editor or higher-privileged user can supply a URL whose host is not validated before a server-side fetch. The site can consequently request internal services inaccessible to the caller, and response differences reveal which services are live. The export does not name the endpoint, URL parameter or fetch function, and does not establish full response-body disclosure. No victim interaction is required by the vector. The vector reports limited confidentiality impact, no integrity impact, no availability impact. Affected versions: < 6.3.2. The authoritative export identifies 6.3.2 as fixed for this CVE.

Weakness
CWE-918 — Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)

This CVE was published Oct 09, 2026 and is one of 42 known issues for this plugin.

Update, patch or deactivate.

Update to 6.3.2 or a later supported release. Application-level remediation: Allowlist intended destinations, validate resolved addresses and redirects, reject internal and reserved network ranges, and retain the appropriate capability check before fetching.

A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.

Technical description

The Kirki WordPress plugin before 6.3.2 does not validate the host of a URL it is given before fetching it, allowing users with editor-level access and above to make the site issue requests to internal services that are not otherwise reachable, and to tell which of those are live from the response.
