MEDIUM CVE-2026-15755 Deferred

Open User Map shortcode coordinates permit stored script execution

Open User Map through 1.4.45 lets a Contributor store attacker-controlled lat, long and zoom attributes in an [open-user-map] shortcode, including in a post submitted only for review. render_block_map() passes those attributes through partial-map-init.php without enforcing numeric coordinate values, and partial-map-render.php inserts them into JavaScript map variables. The stored script executes when an administrator previews the pending post or another visitor opens the rendered page.

Weakness
CWE-79 — Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

This CVE was published Jul 24, 2026 and is one of 5 known issues for this plugin.

Update, patch or deactivate.

Update Open User Map to 1.4.46 or later. The fixed release accepts only numeric latitude, longitude and zoom values, enforces coordinate ranges and emits the resulting floats with wp_json_encode(). Review pending and published posts containing Open User Map shortcodes before previewing them on a vulnerable site.

A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.

Technical description

The Open User Map – Interactive Leaflet Maps plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Shortcode Attributes in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.45 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The attack does not require post publication; a Contributor submitting a post for pending review is sufficient, as the payload executes when an Administrator opens the pending-review preview.
