ShopMagic – email automation for WordPress: Filesystem traversal
ShopMagic can pass a guest checkout's billing_address.first_name through a published recipe's customer.first_name handling to a PHP include. An unauthenticated attacker can select a local include path when a relevant recipe is published; the built-in recipe qualifies only when published. Code execution additionally requires attacker-controlled or otherwise useful PHP content at an accessible path. Published affected versions: <= 4.9.0.

This CVE was published Oct 14, 2026 and is one of 4 known issues for this plugin.
Update, patch or deactivate.
Official author release notes reviewed on 2026-10-14 list version 4.9.1, but this archive could not confirm a fixed version for this CVE. Nested-placeholder interpolation changes do not explicitly establish remediation of the disclosed billing-name local file inclusion. This is an evidence limitation, not a claim that the current release remains vulnerable. Official release notes: https://wordpress.org/plugins/shopmagic-for-woocommerce/#developers. Disable affected published recipes until remediation is established; customer fields must remain data rather than include-path instructions.
No confirmed safe version is listed. Consider a vendor-supported patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality while you assess the risk.
Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.
Technical description
The ShopMagic – email automation for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Local File Inclusion in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.0 via the 'billing_address.first_name' parameter parameter. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to include and execute arbitrary .php files on the server, allowing the execution of any PHP code in those files. This can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where .php file types can be uploaded and included. Exploitation requires a published recipe that processes the {{ customer.first_name }} placeholder — the plugin's built-in "New Order email with social media profile links" recipe satisfies this requirement out of the box, making the default configuration exploitable with no account, cookie, or nonce by simply submitting a guest checkout with the payload as the billing first name.
