Subscribe to Comments: Cross-site scripting
An unauthenticated attacker can craft a link containing script-bearing target-parameter input. The component reflects that input without sufficient escaping, so a user who follows the link can execute attacker-controlled JavaScript in the site’s origin, including in an administrator’s browser. The export does not disclose the exact endpoint or parameter name. Affected versions: < 2.3.3. The authoritative export identifies 2.3.3 as fixed for this CVE.

2.3.3- Published
- Oct 11, 2026
This CVE was published Oct 11, 2026 and is one of 7 known issues for this plugin.
Update, patch or deactivate.
Update to 2.3.3 or a later supported release. Application-level remediation: Validate stored and request values and escape them for their final HTML, attribute, URL or JavaScript context. Enforce capability and object-ownership checks on settings and content writes.
A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.
Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.
Technical description
The Subscribe to Comments WordPress plugin before 2.3.3 does not properly validate a parameter before reflecting it into a link target, allowing unauthenticated attackers to perform Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via a crafted URL against anyone who clicks it, including administrators.
