MEDIUM CVE-2026-111966 Deferred

User Profile Builder: Cross-site scripting

The User Profile Builder WordPress plugin before 4.0.5 does not sanitise and escape one of its shortcode attributes before outputting it back in a redirect message, which could allow users with a role as low as contributor to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks against higher-privileged users who submit the affected form. Other endpoint, parameter, role or implementation details not named in this export are not established by this record. Affected versions: before 4.0.5. The narrative names the role described above, while the CVSS vector records high privileges (PR:H); that vector does not establish an Administrator-only requirement.

Update, patch or deactivate.

The authoritative export identifies 4.0.5 as fixed. Update to the applicable fixed release or a later supported release. Validate untrusted input and apply context-appropriate output escaping at the affected rendering point; enforce permissions independently of nonces.

A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.
