MEDIUM CVE-2026-114429 Received

WPVR: Cross-site scripting

The WPVR WordPress plugin before 9.0.3 does not properly sanitise and escape some of its tour hotspot content before storing it and outputting it on the front end, which could allow users with the Contributor role and above to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks that execute in the browser of any user viewing the affected tour. Other endpoint, parameter, role or implementation details not named in this export are not established by this record. Affected versions: 8.5.49 to before 9.0.3. The source narrative identifies Contributor-level access, while the newly supplied CVSS vector specifies high privileges (PR:H); this discrepancy is unresolved, so the disclosed Contributor role is retained.

Update, patch or deactivate.

The authoritative export identifies 9.0.3 as fixed. Update to the applicable fixed release or a later supported release. Validate untrusted input and apply context-appropriate output escaping at the affected rendering point; enforce permissions independently of nonces.

A safe version is available, so updating to that version or later is the preferred remediation. If an immediate update is not practical, consider a targeted application patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.
