HIGH CVE-2026-110184 Deferred

Newsmatic: Blind SQL injection

The Newsmatic theme for WordPress is vulnerable to blind SQL Injection via the 'slug' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.5.0 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to manipulate existing database queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. The structured affected range is <= 1.5.0.

This CVE was published Oct 29, 2026 and is one of 3 known issues for this theme.

Update, patch or deactivate.

This archive could not verify an exact fixed release from usable official author notes as of 2026-10-30. Theme listing 1.5.2 and stale author page 1.4.3 do not establish a matching SQL fix. This archive’s uncertainty does not establish that the current release remains vulnerable. Use parameterized database queries and validate allowed identifiers or sort options before building SQL. Official author notes: https://wordpress.org/themes/newsmatic/.

No confirmed safe version is listed. Consider a vendor-supported patch or temporarily restricting the affected functionality while you assess the risk.

Deactivate only when warranted by your risk profile, or when advised by your hosting provider in the limited circumstances where the vulnerability cannot otherwise be mitigated. If you’re unsure which action is appropriate, contact Fused or your hosting provider for guidance.

Technical description

The Newsmatic theme for WordPress is vulnerable to blind SQL Injection via the 'slug' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.5.0 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
