Setting Up an IMAP Account on Android¶
This guide will assist you in setting up an IMAP email account on your Android device using imap.fused.com for incoming mail and smtp.fused.com for outgoing mail.
If you run into any issues, the connection settings might prove useful.
Note
You'll need to ensure you've already created an email account before using these instructions. If you haven't, create one now.
Steps¶
1. Open Email App¶
- Navigate to your app drawer and open the email application you use (such as Gmail, the default Email app, or any third-party email client).
2. Add New Account¶
- If this is your first email account on the device, you'll usually be prompted to set up an email account immediately.
- If you already have an account, go to the app's settings and look for an option to "Add Account" or "Set up new account."
3. Enter Email Address and Password¶
- Input your full email address (e.g., email@example.com) and the password associated with it.
4. Select Account Type¶
- When prompted, choose "IMAP" as your account type.
5. Incoming Server Settings¶
- IMAP Server: imap.fused.com
- Port: 993 for IMAP.
- Security Type: Choose SSL/TLS.
- Username: Enter your full email address.
- Password: The password for your email account.
6. Outgoing Server Settings¶
- SMTP Server: smtp.fused.com
- Port: 587 for STARTTLS (recommended), 465 for SSL.
- Security Type: Select SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates) or STARTTLS
- Username: Input your full email address again.
- Password: Your email account password.
7. Other Settings¶
- You might be asked to configure preferences like sync frequency and notification settings.
8. Complete Setup¶
- After entering all necessary information, the app will typically verify your settings. Once confirmed, your email account should be set up and ready to use.
9. Check Email¶
- You should now be able to send and receive emails using your new IMAP account on your Android device.
